I’ll be sharing with you some reasons why the error happens. Then, I’ll discuss how you can fix it.

The solutions I’ll discuss are practical and applicable to all devices streaming Peacock.

Why is Peacock not working on Smart TV?

There are so many reasons why Peacock is not working on your smart TV, some of them include:

  1. Slow internet connection
  2. Server outage
  3. Corrupted app cache
  4. An outdated software update.

One or more of these can contribute to this error.

Now, let’s dive into fixing this issue.

How to fix Peacock not working on smart TV.

Method 1: Check Your Internet or Wi-Fi Connection.

The first thing you need to check is your internet connection to ensure you do not have a slow internet connection.

The Peacock app always requires a fast internet connection to work correctly. Having a failing internet connection can cause the Peacock app not to work.

You can always try disconnecting other devices connected to the Wi-Fi router while using the Peacock TV app so that Peacock can use the maximum internet bandwidth.

You can also perform a speed test on your smart TV by:

  1. Opening the browser on your Smart TV.
  2. Going to, an online speed test tool that is free.
  3. Clicking on “Go” and it will start the speed test.

Method 2: Fix your Internet Connection

If you notice that your internet Speed is lower than 5Mbps, then there is a problem.

You need between 5-10Mpbs to stream Peacock on HD on your Smart TV.

If you are streaming on 4k, you need at least 25Mbps for a seamless streaming experience.

The easiest way to improve your internet speed would be to subscribe to a plan with higher internet speed, but I understand this may not be within your budget.

A broken internet connection can cause issues where Peacock is not loading.

However, the steps below will help you improve your internet speed significantly without spending extra money.

How to Improve Your Internet Connection for Peacock Streaming

Power Cycle your router

For those using a router for their internet connection, I always advise power cycling the router as a first step.

This is equivalent to rebooting your phone when your internet is poor. It will refresh the internet, clear the router cache, and, in most cases, get a significantly improved connection speed.

To power cycle your router, unplug it from the power sources and allow it to rest for 60 seconds. Then plug it back in, turn it on, and connect your Smart TV.

Use an ethernet cable.

Most people like to connect to their router via Wi-Fi, and while this is the most convenient method, it is prone to connection problems because of obstructions and distance.

Using an ethernet connection allows you to bypass those issues.

The signal is sent directly to your smart TV through the cable, making it stronger.

Use 5GHz

The difference between 2.4GHz and 5GHz is that 2.4GHz offers a slower internet connection but a more extended range, while 5GHz offers a stronger internet connection but a shorter range.

In essence, 5GHz will be ideal when you have a weak internet signal.

However, moving the router closer to the smart TV would be best.

Disconnect other devices from the router.

Finally, disconnect other bandwidth-consuming devices from your router if you have to use a Wi-Fi connection.

This will allow more signals to be sent to your Smart TV and get Peacock working again.

Method 3: Restart the Peacock app

Restarting the Peacock app on your Smart TV will help install updates that were not installed properly and establish a new connection with Peacock servers.

This will ultimately fix glitches that cause Peacock not working on Smart TV issues.

Method 4: Restart your smart TV.

If restarting the Peacock app doesn’t work, then restart your Smart TV.

This particular troubleshooting approach has a way of temporarily restoring the system to its original state.

So, try to restart the device to confirm if the issue still occurs.

Method 5: Clear the app’s cache.

Peacock app usually stores cached data to help improve its performance, but sometimes, the cache can get corrupted, resulting in this error.

To fix this issue:

  1. Open Setting and tab on Apps.
  2. Tap Peacock and navigate to Storage and Cache.
  3. Tap on Clear cache.
  4. Restart the  Peacock app and check if the error persists.

Method 6. Uninstall and then reinstall the Peacock TV app to update it.

If, after you tried the solutions above, you’re still faced with the error, then you have to uninstall and reinstall your application to get it updated.

This particular approach is always often overlooked.

Sometimes, your Peacock could be outdated and needs to be updated to its latest version to fix this issue.

To uninstall and reinstall your peacock application, you need to:

  1. Close all Running Applications and go to Settings.
  2. Tap on the Apps and select Peacock TV
  3. Click on the Uninstall option to uninstall it.
  4. Open the Google Play Store and search for Peacock.
  5. Click on Install and wait for the installation to finish.

Method 7: Log out of other devices.

Any account shared on other devices simultaneously can slow down the app, so you should consider signing out of all devices on Peacock and only connecting to one or two devices at most.

Follow these steps to log out of other devices:

  1. Go to your Peacock TV Account Page.
  2. Select Devices and then select Other Devices.
  3. Remove all the devices you wish to remove and check if the error persists.

Method 8. Check for Peacock service outages.

Another reason you are experiencing this issue is due to service interruption due to a server outage.

Check the peacock servers when the app is not working.

But you can check the status of your Peacock TV server by using the DownDetector website.

If a service outage is reported, you must wait for it to be fixed.

Method 9: Contact Support

I’m sure the above solutions will help you fix Peacock not working on Smart TV, but if they aren’t working for you, contact Peacock support for further assistance.

Final thoughts.

I can imagine the frustration you go through when faced with this error. If peacock is not working on your smart TV, there’s no need to worry.

Follow the troubleshooting methods outlined above, and then this issue can be resolved.
