How to Delete Continue Watching Movies on Amazon

Mkpoikana Otu - Tech Gorilla AuthorByMkpoikana Otu March 25, 2025March 25, 2025

Amazon Prime Video’s “Continue Watching” feature is a convenient tool that allows users to pick up where they left off with movies or shows. However, it can sometimes become a source of frustration. Fortunately, Amazon provides several straightforward ways to remove these titles across different devices like web browsers, mobile apps, and TVs.

Step-by-Step Guide to Deleting Continue Watching Movies on Amazon Prime Video

On Web Browser

Follow these steps to remove unwanted titles from the “Continue Watching” section on Amazon Prime Video when using a web browser:

1. Log In to Your Account: Open your preferred web browser and visit the Amazon Prime Video website, then sign in with your Amazon credentials if you’re not already logged in.

2. Locate the Continue Watching Section: Scroll down the homepage until you find the “Continue Watching” carousel.

3. Hide a movie: Hover over the video you want to remove and you’ll see three vertical dots. Click on it and select “Hide this movie”  to remove the movie from your watch list.

On Mobile App

1. Open the App: Launch the Amazon Prime Video app on your smartphone or tablet. Make sure you are logged into your account.

2. Locate the Continue Watching Section: Scroll down the homepage until you find the “Continue Watching” carousel.

3. Remove Titles: Press and hold (long press) on the movie or show you want to remove. A menu will appear with options; tap Hide This Video to delete the title from your list.

4. Confirm Removal: The title will disappear from the “Continue Watching” section immediately. If it doesn’t, refresh the app or restart it to ensure changes are applied.

5.  Alternative Method for Older App Versions: If your app version doesn’t support long press functionality, check for an Edit button near the “Continue Watching” section. Tap it, select unwanted titles, and hit Remove.

On TV App

1. Open the Prime Video App: Turn on your TV and launch the Amazon Prime Video app. Make sure you are logged into your account.

2. Locate the Continue Watching Section: On the app’s homepage, scroll down to find the “Continue Watching” carousel.

2. Select the Title to Remove: Using your TV remote, navigate to the movie or show you want to remove. Highlight the title and long press the Select or OK button on your remote.

3. Choose “Hide This Movie”:  A menu will appear on the screen with options. Select Hide This Movie (or Hide This Season for TV shows).

4. Confirm Removal: The title will be immediately removed from your “Continue Watching” list. If it doesn’t disappear right away, refresh the app or restart your TV to ensure changes are applied.

5. Repeat as Needed: Repeat this process for any additional titles you want to remove from the list.

Tips for Managing Your Watch History

Keeping your Amazon Prime Video watch history organized can enhance your streaming experience. Here are some practical tips:

1. Regularly Review Your Watchlist.

Periodically check your “Continue Watching” section and remove titles you no longer plan to finish. This helps declutter your list and keeps recommendations relevant.

2. Use Separate Profiles for Household Members.

If you share your account, create individual profiles for each user. This prevents mixed watch histories and ensures personalized recommendations for everyone.

3. Explore Prime Video Settings.

Visit your account settings to manage preferences, such as enabling or disabling autoplay and adjusting parental controls.

4. Clear Full Watch History.

If you want to reset your watch history entirely, you can do so through Amazon’s website under the “Your Devices” section. This removes all previously watched content.

5. Be Mindful of Titles You Start.

Avoid starting movies or shows unless you’re sure you’ll finish them. This minimizes the need for frequent cleanups.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Sometimes, removing titles from “Continue Watching” doesn’t go as planned. Here’s how to address common problems:

1. Titles Don’t Disappear Immediately:

If a removed title still appears, refresh the app or website. Syncing delays can occur, so give it a few minutes before taking further action.

2. Changes Aren’t Syncing Across Devices:

Log out of your account on all devices, then log back in. This forces your watch history to update across platforms.

3. Hide Option is Missing:

If the “Hide” or “Remove” option isn’t available, ensure your app or browser is updated to the latest version. Older versions may lack this functionality.

4. Titles Reappear After Removal:

This can happen if the same title is added to your list again (e.g., by accidentally clicking on it). Double-check your actions to avoid this.

5. Contact Amazon Support:

If issues persist, reach out to Amazon’s customer support for assistance. They can help resolve persistent syncing or account-related problems.

By following these steps, you can easily declutter your “Continue Watching” section on your TV app, ensuring a more personalized and streamlined viewing experience
