How to Delete Apps on Samsung TV (All Models)

Mkpoikana Otu - Tech Gorilla AuthorByMkpoikana Otu April 10, 2025April 10, 2025

Samsung Smart TVs come with a variety of pre-installed and downloadable apps that makes your TV a fun device. However, over time, you may find that some apps are no longer useful or are taking up unnecessary space. Apart from freeing up storage, deleting unused apps can also help improve system performance and declutter your home screen.

Here’s how to delete apps on your Samsung TV..

Step-by-Step Guide to Deleting Apps:

For Newer Samsung TV Models (2020 and later)

If you own a Samsung Smart TV from the TU, Q, or LS series (2020 or later), follow this steps to delete apps:

1. Press the Home button on your remote control to open the Smart Hub interface.

2. Use the directional pad on your remote to locate and select the Settings icon (gear icon) in the top-right corner of the screen.

3. Scroll down and select the Support tab, then choose Device Care. This feature will perform a quick scan of your TV to identify storage usage.

4. Once the scan is complete, select Manage Storage. This will display a list of all installed apps on your TV.

Highlight the app you want to delete using the remote’s directional pad. You can select multiple apps at once for bulk deletion.

4. Choose the Delete option and confirm your action by clicking OK. A status bar will appear showing the progress of the deletion process.

For Older Models (2017–2019)

If you own a Samsung Smart TV from the M, MU, NU, R, or Q series released between 2017 and 2019, deleting apps follows a slightly different process compared to newer models. Here’s how you can remove unwanted apps.

1. Press the Home button on your remote to open the Smart Hub interface.

2. Use the directional pad on your remote to select the Apps icon.

3. In the Apps section, locate and select the Settings icon (gear icon) in the top-right corner of the screen.

For Legacy Models (2015–2016)

If you own a Samsung Smart TV from the J, JU, JS, K, KU, or KS series (2015–2016), the process for deleting apps is slightly different due to the older interface.

1. Press the Home button on your remote control to open the Smart Hub.

2. Select Apps from the home screen and then go to My Apps. This section displays all installed apps on your TV.

3. In the My Apps section, press the Options button (located at the bottom-right corner of the screen or on your remote).

4. From the menu that appears, choose Delete. This will allow you to select apps for removal.

5. Highlight the app(s) you want to delete using your remote’s directional pad.

6. Press Delete again and confirm your action when prompted. The selected apps will be removed from your TV.

Note: Pre-installed apps cannot be deleted but can be hidden from your home screen. To hide them, navigate to the app on your home screen, press and hold Select, and choose Remove from Home Screen.

4. Scroll down to the Downloaded Apps section to view all apps installed on your TV.

5. Highlight the app you want to delete and press the Select button on your remote.

6. Choose Delete from the menu that appears and confirm your action by selecting Delete again in the confirmation prompt.

Final Thoughts

Deleting apps on a Samsung TV is quick and easy, whether you’re removing downloaded apps or hiding pre-installed ones. If your TV feels sluggish, clearing unused apps can help optimize performance.
